Lichfield Escorts & Massages

Situated approximately 16 miles from Birmingham, Lichfield is a cathedral city with more than 30,000 residents. The name itself comes from a village named Letocetum, which passed into Old English as Lyccid. We don't know much about the early history of the city expect that the first Christian king of Mercia donated land to Lichfield to build a monastery. This was a very important event because it turned the, at the time, insignificant city into an ecclesiastical center. The magnificent cathedral that the city is known for is the only medieval English cathedral with three spires. It was built between 1195 and 1249 and is dedicated to St Chad and Saint Mary. The cathedral suffered much damage during the English Civil War and the entire 18th century was marked by its significant decay. Fortunately, it is now restored to its former glory, and visitors are encouraged to come and see a medieval wall painting, the famous Herkenrode stained glass, the Lichfield Angel, and more.

Lichfield went through the Industrial Revolution without much change in its character. This saved it from heavy bombing attacks and made it a suitable place for the evacuation of more than 2,000 people who were living in industrialized areas. New housing was needed, and their construction continued well into the Modern Era. Currently, work is in progress to build a new shopping and leisure complex to provide local residents with better services and retail options.
