Rochdale Escorts & Massages

Picture of Rochdale

Located at the foothills of the South Pennines on the River Roch, Rochdale, together with several smaller settlements around it, forms the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale. This borough was formed in 1974 and currently has a population of around 200,000 residents. To the south-east lies the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, and to the west lies the Metropolitan Borough of Bury.

The most recognized architectural monument in the borough is the Rochdale Town Hall. Not only is it recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, but Adolf Hitler found it so mesmerizing that he wanted to ship it to Germany. In 1883 a devastating fire destroyed the original clock tower, which was promptly replaced with the present one. Pevsner described the medieval Great Hall as a room of “great splendor and simplicity.”

In front of Rochdale Town Hall is Rochdale Cenotaph, a war memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1922. Sir Edwin Lutyens was one of the most prominent designers of war memorials in the aftermath of the First World War, and his Rochdale Cenotaph is considered to be one his finest designs. On 12 February 1985, the memorial was designated a Grade II listed building.
